Imitation is highly prized in Bangalore

Learning from its neighbour China, India is latching onto the idea that you don’t have to invent things because it’s just too much like hard work.

India has for a long time been known for its ‘Phake’ drugs indeed the economist and author Roger Bate wrote the not so best selling but informative book ‘Phake: The Deadly World of Falsified and Substandard Medicines’ which describes in gruesome detail India’s counterfeit drugs manufacturing industry and the horrifying effect it has on people trying to save money when self treating very serious illnesses.

Now it would seem that just like China, India considers copying from west to be a legitimate form of product development! Sadly this blatant infringement of copyright doesn’t just happen when Indians are manufacturing consumer goods and medicines it also happens in their most cherished of industries Bollywood.

Below is just one poster, from an enormous number of Hollywood rip-offs, for Ra.One a 2011 Indian science fiction movie about a superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha, and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor.

What a lack of originality sad isn’t it!
